Final Essay

When I was young, I lived in nature-friendly
and leafy town, so I played in mountains and forests while other kids playing
game in their room. From those memories I grow to environment-friendly person
naturally and I decided to live in the countryside after the retirement.
However, unsolved environmental problems such as global warming, carbon dioxide (CO2) emission and
climate change cause more and more serious natural disasters like typhoon ‘Neoguri’.
I think there should be environmental solutions, so I choose three articles
dealing with world’s environmental policy or effort. First article is about
Massachusetts’ electric car rebate from Choi Rim’s blog. Second article is
about UK’s approval of wind farm from Park Hyung Min’s blog. Third article is
about Finland’s new climate laws from Kim Seon Ho’s blog.
First of all, I
choose the article “Massachusetts Pushing to Expand Electric Car Use” from Choi
Rim’s blog because I will be plural major in mechanical engineering, so I am
interested in automobile industry and electric car is hot issue nowadays. According
to the article, Massachusetts will provide a rebate to electric car users and
employers of charging stations. Choi Rim welcomed this policy and thought it
will be positive to electric car industry. I agree with Choi Rim, because
efficient electric car policy will encourage the use of electric car and this
will lead to boost of electric car industry; it is useful to environment. Wise
policy can be beneficial to both eco-friendly users and nature.
Then, I picked
the article “UK approves World’s Largest Offshore Wind Farm” from Park Hyung Min’s
blog because there are few wind power generator in my nearby town and I think
that it will be good to expand wind power generator in Korea like UK’s wind
farm. As reported by the article, UK’s department for Energy and Climate Change
approved the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm and it will completed by 2020.
Park Hyung Min thought wind farm business will be more important in future and
renewable energies like wind are significant and they contribute to energy
problems. I am similar to Park Hung Min’s opinion. Depletion of fossil fuel is
continuous problem, so we should develop and substitute to new source of energy
like wind or sun. We should prepare the future circumstances and substitution
of present energy.
Lastly, I choose
the article “Finland reveals new climate change laws” from Kim Seon Ho’s blog
because Korea also needs practical climate laws. According to the article,
Finland parliament agrees to reduce 80% of carbon dioxide emission by 2050 and
promote use of renewable energy. Kim Seon Ho thought restricting emission of
carbon is important and all countries should try to control climate change. I
agree with Kim Seon Ho and I want to advance his idea. Besides with restricting
emission of carbon, other environmental issues like agreement about emission of
pollutants to sea and regulation of logging should be added to. Control our
greed and selfishness about nature.
In conclusion, I
report three articles about worldwide countermeasure and policy for the Mother
Nature. First I agreed about wise electric car policy in Massachusetts that is
worthy to splendid. Second article is about construction of wind farm in UK and
I want to emphasize the importance of preparing the future environment. Third
article is about Finland’s law restriction of CO2 and I expand the idea with detail. We should prepare
the future situation of environment and guard our precious nature.
